Match Preview: Kamuzu Barracks vs Ekhaya FC

Ekhaya FC return to league action on Saturday afternoon with a testing away trip to Champion Stadium, where Kamuzu Barracks await in what already feels like an early-season tone-setter.

The story so far
Four matches into the FDH Bank Premiership campaign, there is little to separate the two sides. Both Ekhaya and The Soldiers sit on four points, each still searching for consistency and a run that can ignite their season.

For Ekhaya, the foundations are there, flashes of attacking quality, spells of control, but turning those moments into sustained results remains the next step. Saturday presents an opportunity to build momentum and, crucially, make a statement away from home.

Head-to-head
There’s recent history between the sides, and it’s finely balanced.

Kamuzu Barracks edged the first meeting last season with a narrow 1-0 win at Champion Stadium back on 17 May. But Ekhaya responded emphatically in the reverse fixture, producing a commanding 3-0 victory at Mpira Stadium.
With one win apiece, this latest encounter becomes a natural decider,  and another chance to tilt the balance.

Team news
Ekhaya head into the fixture with a largely healthy squad. The only absentee remains Alick Lungu, who is still on the road to recovery.
Otherwise, Interim Head Coach Fundi Akidu has a full complement to choose from as he looks to fine-tune both ends of the pitch.

From the dugout
Akidu is under no illusions about the challenge ahead:
“That’s why I’m saying it is going to be tough. They have the same number of points as us and have played the same number of games. We want to build on the form we have started, and most importantly, improve our away record, especially by avoiding conceding in the early minutes of our games.”

That focus on defensive concentration,  particularly in the opening stages, could prove decisive.

The challenge
Champion Stadium is never an easy place to go, and Kamuzu Barracks’ disciplined, physical approach will test Ekhaya’s resolve.

But with both teams level on points and equally eager to climb the table, the margins will be fine. A moment of quality, a lapse in concentration, or a strong start could ultimately define the outcome.

Away squad
Ekhaya travel with a strong 22-man squad:
Amos Sande, Clever Mkungula, Joshua Waka, Andrew Lameck, Aubrey Simbi, Samuel Rukura, Charles Mafaiti, Happy Mphepo, Hermas Masinja, Joseph McDonald, Joseph Saiwa, Alfred Chizinga, Blessings Malinda, James Lumbe, Moses Banda, Isaiah Nyirenda, Vincent Salawira, Allen Chihana, George Mateyu, Chimwemwe Chunga, Levie Mnyenyembe, Sholigah Stambuli.
