Nine Ekhaya FC youngsters have earned call-ups to the Malawi Under-20 national team squad currently in preparation for the 2026 African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region 5 Tournament, scheduled to take place in Mozambique next July.
Ekhaya Reserves dominate the club’s contribution to the current Junior Flames squad, with eight of the nine selected players coming from the reserves side.
James Lumbe is the only player included from the senior team. Lumbe has enjoyed a strong debut season with The Cowboys, scoring four goals so far and building on an impressive performance at the COSAFA U20 Games a few months ago. His form has earned him national team recognition.
Making up the full list of selected players from our ranks is Fanuel Luciano (GK), James Musongole (RB), Precious Manjawira (CB), Keneth Mwale (CM), Yusuf Namtunga (AM), Maxwell Sakanamba (CM), James Lumbe (AM), Hastings Malinda (CM), and Dalison Yawanda (FW)
The strong representation from the reserves comes during an impressive league campaign, with the reigning ThumbsUp Southern Football League champions still in the title race going into the final match of the season next weekend, sitting second on the table after spending lengthy periods at the summit.
The Junior Flames are currently in camp for the first phase of preparations as they begin their work ahead of next year's regional tournament.
