Just a week after putting pen to paper with The Cowboys, midfielder Moses Banda is set for an emotional return to familiar territory, Civo Stadium, the home ground where he spent years of his career before his recent switch.
Banda, who only made his debut three days ago, is already reflecting on the whirlwind start to his journey in Cowboys colors.
On His Debut
Banda admits his first outing in The Cowboys’ shirt, despite ending in disappointment for the team, was a personal highlight:
“It was a very good game given it was my first game. There were less expectations that I would combine well with my teammates and play the way I did. But I should also say thanks because they welcomed me well. In a lot of things, I don’t feel like a stranger here.
It was a good game and a precious debut in that sense. It was a priceless moment. I should thank the coach for believing in me. He saw something in me that I could help the team, and he gave me the chance to start.”
On Losing His First Game
The result wasn’t what Banda had hoped for, but looks forward for a strong response.
“Defeat happens in football. As players we just need to lift each other up. For the upcoming games, we should do everything to correct our mistakes and earn victory.
As players, we will talk to each other about what to do, how to move forward, and how to improve.”
On the Attitude Factor in Last Sunday’s Defeat
Concerns of attitude were raised after last Sunday's defeat and Banda responded with a different perspective:
“They may see it that way, but for players we can say that it was just a game that was not on our day. We should accept it and move forward. We know the responsibility we carry, and we’ll do better.”
On Returning to Civo Stadium
Barely settling into his new club, Banda is already bracing himself for an immediate return to his old ground and discusses what it will take to win at Civo Stadium, formely Stade De Jeunes:
“The days are tight, but this is the job we signed for. There is no doing otherwise. We are coming from a defeat, and by all means we should get victory there. Things must look good again.
It will require us to do the right things. Most of the games you win by making things happen at the right time. If you have mistakes, victory is difficult to get. If we correct our mistakes, it will be easy to get a win at Civo.”
For Banda, the coming fixture is more than just another match, it’s a test of resilience, focus, and a chance to show his new family what he can bring.
Priceless debut behind him, familiar turf ahead, and determination in his voice, Moses Banda’s Cowboys chapter has only just begun.
There are more making their Civo return this afternoon with the duo of Blessings Malinda, newly sidgnes as well, and another Civil United former man Lovemore Mbeta.
