Ekhaya Women Beaten 3-0 by Allan Ladies in League Kickoff

Ekhaya Women’s 2025 lSouthern Region Betpawa FAM Womens League campaign kicked off on a tough note as they suffered a 3-0 defeat away to Allan Ladies on aSaturday afternoon at the Works Ground in Zomba.

A brace from Hannah Jamali and  a goal from Fazila Master were enough for the hosts to secure a victory.

How it happened

Kicking off ten minutes than the scheduled time, the tie started on the on the boil right from the start. The opening quarter of an hour was well-balanced, with both sides trading attacking moves, but clear chances were few and far between.

However, the breakthrough came on the half-hour mark when Hannah Jamali, left unmarked in the area, fired the hosts into the lead.

Shortly after Ekhaya made a double substitution, bringing on Joyce Juju and Nusha Luciano for Memory Lapani and Khadija Pangani, Allan Ladies doubled their advantage.

Fazila Master added the second in the 42nd minute, with Ekhaya goalkeeper Rossette Mwajuma getting a hand to the strike, though it had already crossed the line.

Though we pushed to pull one back, the interval arrived with us still trailing.

We returned from the break with renewed energy and looked more purposeful in the opening moments of the second half. But hopes of a comeback were dashed in the 59th minute when Jamali completed her brace with a headed goal to make it 3-0.

A flurry of substitutions followed: Catherine Nthambo came on for Jennin Mwale, while Esther Nyalugwe, Vyone Namsongole, Martha Banda, and Ruth Galatiya also rotated in for both sides.

Despite the changes, the Cowgirls couldn’t find a way past the Allan Ladies defense.  3-0 it finished

What it means

From the dugout
