Match Report: Kamuzu Barracks 1-4 Ekhaya FC

Ekhaya FC delivered a statement performance at Champion Stadium on Saturday afternoon, cruising to a 4-1 victory over Kamuzu Barracks to secure their first-ever win at the venue in the FDH Bank Premiership.

Clinical in attack and composed in control, The Cowboys turned a competitive contest into a commanding result, capitalising on key moments to take all three points.

How it unfolded
The match began on an even footing, with both sides testing the waters early on but failing to create clear-cut chances. As the half progressed, Ekhaya gradually found their rhythm, growing in confidence and control.

Ekhaya’s breakthrough arrived in the 15th minute when Levie Mnyenyembe timed his run into the area perfectly to meet a precise pass from Allen Chihana, calmly finishing to give The Cowboys the lead.

Turning Point: Red Card Shift
The game’s momentum swung decisively when the hosts were reduced to 10 men following a dangerous aerial challenge on Blessings Malinda close to halftime. With the numerical advantage, Ekhaya took full command, dictating the tempo and stretching play with authority.

The advantage was doubled in stunning fashion on 36 minutes, as center-half Charles Mafaiti produced a spectacular bicycle kick, connecting cleanly from a Mnyenyembe corner to make it 2-0.

The visitors continued their dominance after the break, and in the 65th minute, James Lumbe capped off a flowing team move with a composed finish to extend the lead to three.

Just two minutes later, the hosts found a response through Rashid Chiromo, who curled a fine effort beyond Clever Mkungula, finally beating the goalkeeper after he had made a series of impressive saves to keep them at bay.

Ekhaya, however, remained in full control and added a fourth later on to put the result beyond doubt, sealing a deserved and historic victory. 1-4 it finished.

Stambuli Off the Mark
A standout moment came for striker Sholigah Stambuli, who netted his first goal in Ekhaya colours, an important milestone that set the tone for a dominant attacking display.

Lumbe’s Hot Streak Continues
James Lumbe continued his fine run of form, scoring in back-to-back matches with another composed finish, further cementing his growing influence in the squad.

Game Management & Dominance
With sustained possession, including sequences of over 20 passes, Ekhaya controlled the game and limited the hosts’ threat. Despite The Soldiers’ resilience, they struggled to contain the visitors’ attacking fluidity.

Table Impact
The victory takes Ekhaya FC to 7 points from 5 matches, lifting them to 6th position in the early standings, a strong foundation in the campaign.

What’s Next
The Cowboys now return home to host Masters FC, aiming to build on this momentum and continue their climb up the table.
