Ekhaya FC closed out their Sapitwa 4 campaign in perfect fashion, edging Goshen City Dedza Dynamos 1–0 on Sunday afternoon at Mulanje Park to clinch Sapitwa 4 Season 4 with seven points collected from two matches.
What happened
It was a lively, high-tempo as we fashioned the first big opportunity of the game after a sweeping move cut through the Dynamos midfield.
Levie Mnyenyembe arrived onto the final ball and looked certain to score, but the goalkeeper reacted sharply, tipping his effort around the post.
Dynamos responded with a chance of their own moments later, forcing Lucky Tizola into a superb stop to keep the contest level.
That moment proved decisive, allowing us to settle and grow into the half.
Despite the flurry of chances at both ends, neither side found a breakthrough before the interval.
Second-half control
We emerged from the break with greater authority, tightening our grip on proceedings and pushing Dynamos back into their defensive third. The pressure told ten minutes into the restart.
James Lumbe, bright and inventive throughout, slipped a perfectly timed through ball in behind the defence. Chimwemwe Chunga latched onto it, skipped around the advancing goalkeeper, and rolled the ball home with composure to give us the lead.
We continued to create openings, with Sholigah Stambuli, Isaiah Nyirenda and Lumbe all going close to doubling our advantage. But the single goal would ultimately prove enough.
Dynamos threatened intermittently, but our defensive concentration remained unwavering, allowing us to manage the final stages calmly and professionally.
What it means
The victory confirms Ekhaya FC as Sapitwa 4 champions, securing the club’s first title in only our second appearance in the competition. Beyond the silverware, the performances across the tournament provide a timely boost as preparations for the new season continue to gather momentum.
