After a two-week break, our boys return to ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League duty with a tricky home fixture against Mighty Wanderers Reserves this Saturday morning at Kamuzu Stadium.
Heading into the clash, our youngsters remain top of the table with 41 points from 19 games, while the young Nomads sit fourth with 35 points from 18 matches.
Level on points with second-placed Chilobwe United, Ekhaya Reserves hold their spot at the summit on superior goal difference, and they’ll look to make the most of their game in hand to widen the gap.
Both sides have enjoyed impressive spells of form this season, and fans can expect another thrilling contest.
Speaking ahead of the tie, Interim Coach Edmond Mapulanga described the match as crucial for the table-toppers:
“If you look at the table, it tells you that we must win on Saturday to maintain our position at the top. The opponents are a good side, but we have to show that we want it more.”
Our second-top scorer, Yusuf Namtunga, missed the previous game against Bullets Reserves but is now back in the squad, a welcome boost for the team.
The reverse fixture produced a five-goal spectacle, with the young Nomads edging it 3–2. Kicking off at 11 AM, the match will serve as a curtain-raiser for the senior team’s game against Blue Eagles in the afternoon.
