Match Report: Ntcheu Warriors FC 0-3 Ekhaya FC

Ekhaya FC delivered a commanding performance on Saturday afternoon, securing a convincing 3-0 victory over Ntcheu Warriors FC at Ntcheu Stadium in a preseason friendly.

Youngster George Mateyu scored in each half to complete a decent hat-trick and decide the tie after a very bright performance.

What happened

The Cowboys made a fast start and were rewarded as early as the 10th minute. A well-worked move down the flank saw Wongani Kaponya deliver a precise cut-back, allowing youngster George Mateyu to tap home and open the scoring. It was a deserved lead after a bright opening spell that saw Ekhaya pin the hosts deep inside their own half.

Ekhaya continued to dominate proceedings throughout the first half, controlling possession and creating numerous chances. They came close to doubling their advantage when Sholigah rose highest to meet a cross, only to see his powerful header crash against the post. Despite the attacking intent and width provided by Mateyu and Kaponya, the visitors went into the break with a narrow 1-0 lead.

Ntcheu Warriors showed brief signs of improvement after the restart, but it was short-lived as Ekhaya quickly regained control. The Cowboys’ attacking pressure soon paid off again, with Mateyu completing his brace in similar fashion to his first—this time tapping in from another Kaponya cut-back after a flowing move.

Moments later, Mateyu turned provider of his own fortune, winning a penalty after a lively run into the box. The forward stepped up and calmly converted from the spot, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to seal his hat-trick and put the result beyond doubt.

Despite a series of changes from the hosts in an attempt to shift momentum, Ekhaya maintained their dominance until the final whistle, showcasing control, fluid attacking play, and defensive discipline.
