Ekhaya FC Women head to Mulanje for Nsuwadzi FC test

For a FAM Women’s League encounter, Ekhaya FC Women travel to Mulanje this Sunday afternoon to take on Nsuwadzi FC in a crucial clash that could significantly shape the outcome of this season’s title race.

The Cowgirls remain firmly in the championship conversation and will probably approach the encounter determined to return to winning ways after last weekend’s 1-1 draw against Chitoliro FC.

While the result preserved their unbeaten momentum, it denied them the opportunity to close the gap at the top, making Sunday’s match a must-win as the title race edges towards its climax.

Confidence within the Ekhaya camp is boosted by the memory of the first-round meeting between the sides, where the Cowgirls produced a commanding 6-0 victory at Kamuzu Stadium. Goals from Jenin Mwale, Cathrine Nthambo, Maggie Msiska, and Janet Simeon highlighted a ruthless attacking performance that the team will be eager to replicate.

Speaking ahead of the trip, head coach Patricia Makwakwa stressed the importance of maintaining focus and belief as the season enters its decisive phase.

“The players understand that we still have more matches and opportunities to qualify for the national league. I’m confident that in tomorrow’s game they will work extra hard to achieve the best possible result. The mentality within the squad is strong, and we are approaching the match without pressure.”

Despite their previous victory over Nsuwadzi, Ekhaya are expecting a tougher contest in Mulanje, with the hosts likely to draw motivation from playing in front of their home supporters. The Cowgirls will therefore need discipline, composure, and attacking efficiency to secure maximum points.

As the title race tightens, Sunday’s encounter represents more than just another fixture, it is an opportunity for Ekhaya FC Women to reinforce their championship credentials and ensure the battle for top spot continues right down to the final whistle of the season.

Having played 11 games, The Cowgirls are on 23 points, three points behind the second-placed Chitoliro Heroines who have played the same number of games, 6 points behind the league leaders Allan Ladies FC who have just won their 12th day today  1-0 to Ndirande Soccer Giants FC.
