Coach Chatama: Post-Bonanza Reaction

On the Performance

“We are just happy that we have won, but the aim was not really to win. We wanted to assess the team, checking weak areas and strong areas.”
On What the Tournament Offered

“It was to assess the team, to check weak areas and strong areas. We are lacking the physical aspect of the game; we have to go back to the drawing board.
The tourney has given us the platform to know how other teams are playing. We have seen where we are lacking, how the team is like. We can say that the team is getting better.”
On Squad Requirements and Positions to Strengthen

“We have to bring in the players who were with the national team. We have to work on weak areas like the left-back position, where we have only Alick Lungu, and we have to find another left-back.
We have to look for a number 9. We have got three good number 9s; others have to learn while others step in until we get better as a team.”

On Depth and Missing Players
“A team with a good number of good players — which is called depth — has a lot of chances to last the season.

You see that eight players were not with us: the likes of Alick Lungu, Moses Banda, Charles Mafaiti, Allen Chihana, Gift Chunga, and others. We believe when everyone is back we will make a good team.”

On the Work Ahead
“We will be ready before the league starts. Gradually we will be shaping up.”
