Akidu Calls for Clinical Edge Ahead of Moyale Clash

Interim head coach Fundi Akidu has urged his side to turn performances into results as Ekhaya FC prepare to host Moyale FC in a crucial FDH Bank Premiership encounter this Saturday at Mpira Stadium.

Speaking ahead of the fixture, Akidu acknowledged the team’s slow start to the season but expressed confidence in the preparations done during the week.

On preparations for Saturday
“We have prepared just like we do for any other game, fully aware that we haven’t started well in the league. The boys are ready. A key focus has been cutting out set-piece goals, and also improving our finishing. We are creating chances, now it’s time to start scoring.”

The coach pointed to positives from their last outing despite the result.
“If you watched the Civil game, the boys played very well. The only thing missing was the goal.”

On tweaking tactical approach
Akidu remained reserved on formations, instead stressing cohesion within the squad.

“I cannot say much about formation. This is a team that is still evolving. Once the boys gel, formation won’t be an issue. What matters is that we function better as a unit.”

On facing Moyale FC
Reflecting on past meetings, the coach expects a competitive encounter.

“We’ve had mixed results against Moyale, we beat them at home, they beat us away and in the cup. They are a hardworking side with a good coach. It will be a tough game, one we must work hard to win.”

On key areas for improvement
Akidu highlighted early-game lapses and defensive organization as key concerns.

“We’ve been conceding too early, and that has to change. If we can attack with intent and defend at the right moments, we will improve. Most of our conceded goals have come from corners and free kicks, and we’ve worked on that in training.”

Squad update
The coach confirmed a few absentees while offering hope on injured left-back Alick Lungu.

“We have two or three key players unavailable. Alick has had a difficult period with injury, but the doctors are working with him. We hope to see him back soon.”

Message to the fans
Akidu called on the Ekhaya faithful to keep believing in the team.

“To every Ekhaya fan, have hope. We believe this Saturday can be our take-off. The most important thing now is to find victory, everything else will follow.”

With preparations complete and belief growing within the camp, all eyes now turn to Saturday’s showdown at Mpira Stadium. For Akidu and his charges, it is more than just another fixture, it is an opportunity to reset the tone of their season, reward their improving performances, and give the Ekhaya faithful something to rally behind.
