It is another important weekend for The Cowboys, with different objectives across the club’s teams. The Cowgirls will be looking to build on their impressive opening-day performance when they hit the road, while the Reserves return to action determined to turn their second-round fortunes around.
Meanwhile, the senior men’s team and the Youth team will have a weekend away from competitive action, with both sides using breaks to prepare for their respective next assignments.
SATURDAY | COWGIRLS LOOK TO KEEP THE MOMENTUM GOING
Fresh from an impressive start to their campaign, the Cowgirls will be aiming to extend their winning run when they travel to Mulanje Park to face Fomo FC on Saturday afternoon.
Ekhaya Women’s team announced their intentions in emphatic fashion last weekend, registering a convincing 3-0 victory over Bangwe All Stars. Eneless Fabiano was the star of the show, producing a superb hat-trick to inspire the Cowgirls to all three points.
It was an encouraging opening performance that underlined the team’s attacking potential and immediately placed them at the summit of the standings.

However, the Cowgirls will be aware that maintaining their position at the top requires consistency, particularly when playing away from home. Saturday’s assignment presents another opportunity to demonstrate their ambitions and build on the confidence gained from their opening victory.
Their opponents, Fomo FC, will be looking to bounce back after dropping points against Nsuwadzi Queens in their previous outing. Playing on home soil, Fomo will be determined to put up a stronger challenge and make life difficult for the visiting Cowgirls.
With Fabiano already off the mark in spectacular fashion, Ekhaya will be hoping their attacking department can maintain its sharpness and deliver another positive result. A victory in Mulanje would provide an early statement of intent as the Cowgirls seek to establish themselves as serious contenders.
SUNDAY | YOUNG COWBOYS OUT TO END WINLESS RUN
The Reserves return to the battlefield on Sunday with a point to prove as they welcome Mchima FC at Mpira Stadium in the SRFA FINCA Division One League , looking to rediscover their winning touch after a frustrating start to the second round.
Russell Mwafulirwa’s charges have endured a difficult period since the restart, with their latest setback coming last Sunday when they suffered a 4-1 defeat against Immigration FC.
The result extended their winless run in the second round and exposed some defensive weaknesses that the technical panel will be keen to address ahead of Sunday’s encounter.
Despite the recent disappointment, the Young Cowboys remain firmly in the promotion conversation, occupying second position with 35 points from 18 matches. However, their cushion at the top end of the table has narrowed, with leaders FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves now six points ahead.
That makes Sunday’s fixture particularly important for Mwafulirwa’s men, who cannot afford to allow their recent struggles to derail what has otherwise been a promising campaign.

Standing in their way are Mchima FC, who arrive in the fixture sitting 11th in the standings. Mchima were held to a goalless draw at home by Thondwe FC last Saturday and will be hoping to build on that result as they seek to improve their league position.
For Ekhaya, home advantage presents an opportunity to regain confidence, restore momentum and close the gap on the league leaders. The Young Cowboys will need to be more clinical in front of goal while tightening things up defensively if they are to return to winning ways.
With the second round beginning to take shape, three points would be a timely boost for the Reserves and an important response to their recent setbacks.
SENIOR TEAM | COWBOYS OBSERVE FIFA INTERNATIONAL BREAK
The senior men’s team will not be in action this weekend as domestic football takes a break to accommodate the third international FIFA window.
The pause in competitive action provides the Cowboys with an opportunity to regroup, reflect on their campaign and prepare for the challenges that lie ahead when domestic football resumes.

Although there will be no matchday action for the senior side, the technical team will be looking to use the available time to keep the squad focused and ready for the next assignment following a disappointing outing last weekend. The Cowboys are expected to play host to Civil Service United at home after the break.
YOUTH TEAM | UNBEATEN YOUNGSTERS TAKE A WELL-DESERVED BREAK
It is also a weekend off for the Ekhaya You team, who have completed the first round of their campaign unbeaten after an impressive run of performances.
The youngsters have been one of the bright spots for the club, showing consistency, determination and quality throughout the opening round. Their ability to maintain an unbeaten record is a reflection of the progress made by the team and the competitive spirit within the squad.

With the first round now behind them, the one-week break offers the youngsters an opportunity to recharge before embarking on the next phase of their campaign.
However, the challenge will be to carry the same hunger and consistency into the second round. An unbeaten first round is a significant achievement, but the youngsters will know that maintaining those standards will require even greater commitment when action resumes.
THE WEEKEND AHEAD
With the Cowgirls chasing another three points and the Reserves desperate to get their campaign back on track, there is plenty to look forward to across the Ekhaya family.
Two teams will be in action, each with a different mission but a shared desire to keep the Ekhaya flag flying high. The focus will be on Mulanje on Saturday before attention shifts to the Reserves’ home assignment on Sunday.
