Ekhaya FC return to Mpira Stadium this Friday with Blue Eagles standing between them and a chance to rewrite a difficult head-to-head record in the FDH Bank Premiership.
On this homecoming, The Cowboys have a score to settle. The Eagles have won three of the four previous meetings between the sides, including a 2-1 victory at Civo Stadium on the opening day of the campaign. Ekhaya are still searching for their first competitive win over the Eagles.
That makes Friday more than just another league fixture.
Blue Eagles arrive as one of the league’s leading sides, sitting third with 34 points from 17 matches. They have won three of their last five league games and have also been strong on their travels, picking up four away victories out of eight outings.
The Cowboys, meanwhile, sit seventh after a difficult run that has produced just one win in their last nine league matches. However, their opening two results of the second round, a victory followed by a point away at Red Lions, offer a platform to build from.
After Sunday’s goalless draw at Zomba Stadium, Ekhaya now return to their own backyard knowing that a home victory against one of the league’s high-flying sides would carry plenty of significance. History favours the Eagles but Mpira belongs to the Cowboys this afternoon.
