Fresh off lifting the Airtel Top 8, Ekhaya FC continues to underline its rise, not just in silverware, but in substance.
Fourteen young players across our ranks side have earned national recognition after being called up to the Malawi Under-20 provisional squad for the TotalEnergies CAF U-20 AFCON COSAFA Qualifiers, set for Mauritius from September 18–27, 2026.
It’s a proud moment for the club. A statement of growth. A signal that the Cowboys pipeline is producing, and sustaining.
There is clear continuity in the pathway. A number of the selected youngsters, including Precious Manjalawira, Peter Kasiya, James Musongole, James Lumbe, and Kenneth Mwale, have already featured for Malawi at Under-17 level, underlining a development structure that is taking shape and delivering.
Behind it all is a reserve side setting the pace with two coming from the main team. Under the tutelage of Russell Mwafulirwa, Ekhaya Reserves currently sit top of the SRFA Finca Division One League with 30 points from 13 matches, registering 10 wins and just 3 defeats.
The team’s attacking edge has been equally impressive, with Yusufu Namtunga leading the scoring charts with 12 goals, followed by Grant Chibalo on eight, while Hastings Malinda has also contributed.
Among those selected, Blessings Mathyola, Precious Manjalawira and Innocent Munga return to familiar national team surroundings, while the rest receive their first call-up, a major milestone in their development.
The tournament presents a big stage for the young Cowboys, as Malawi compete in Group C alongside Zambia, Comoros and Botswana, with semi-final spots reserved for group winners and the best runner-up.
For Ekhaya FC, this is more than recognition, it’s proof of direction. A club building, competing, and now consistently feeding the national game.
